It’s been a rough couple years on Magnolia Avenue; we’ve had far more than our fair share of violence and gang activity.

Congrats to the CPD for its latest efforts in battling the gangs and drug trade in the area:

From the Tribune:

Police tonight announced arrests after a five-month investigation of a drug ring in Uptown, saying one of the suspects already was in custody for a slaying a block away from the narcotics sales.

Six people were being held and another four were still being sought Friday night in connection with the “Operation Sugar Magnolia” investigation of drug sales in the area of Wilson and Magnolia Avenues, which police said was a $500,000-a-year narcotics enterprise run by members of the Black P-Stones and responsible for recent violence in the area.

More at CBS News and the Examiner.

Next 2311 CAPS meeting is Tuesday, February 1st at Truman.  Might be a great opportunity to come out and thank the CPD personally for their work.
