GWNA Newsletter, December 30, 2016

As we say farewell to 2016, we also say adieu to Julianne Scherer, our most extraordinary GWNA friend and neighbor.

Capturing the boundless energy and fantastic ideas Julianne generated and implemented in our community dazzle us all…

Lead architect designer on the Wilson Underline with her co-pilot Brett Weidl—equally amazing landscape architect.  Championing the Sunnyside Mall Committee.  Creator and event planner for the Annual Sunnyside Mall Arts & Music Fest… And this is only a small sampling of Julianne’s feats.

“As an active Sunnyside Mall Committee member and resident of Uptown, the tactical urbanism event  helped me see more clearly just how much the people in our community believe in one another and our public spaces. The day of the installation we had an impressive volunteer group composed of  architects, city planners and landscape architects but what I wasn’t expecting was just how many regular neighborhood folks would come out to join us in our efforts; excited to work together to create something so unique. The entire event and finished product not only represented a special idea (that we can take back our wonderful community spaces), but it held an even deeper meaning because it was created by the people who live there and invest in it on a day to day  basis.
— Mrs. Brett Weidel, Sunnyside Mall Committee

Julianne, her husband Albert and their beloved Kona are on to their next great adventure in the mountains of Denver!

A little piece of them will always be in our hearts and transforming public spaces that will continue to connect and build our Sheridan Park community!

May 2017 Bring Us All a New Spirit of Community Collaboration and Joy!
